The Initial Review…

Posted: September 5, 2011 in Quirks..., Thoughts...

So it’s been about 600 miles and a week since I had the air suspension installed and some of my thoughts are below…

I’ve been playing with the air pressures for the bags and I discovered (for now) that the rear bags take 55-56psi and the front bags take 45-48psi for ‘optimum’ ride quality as well as driving height to clear most pesky driveways and speedbumps- see pics below.

When showing off the air system to my cousin, the same one who helped make the false floor, the air compressor decided to overheat on me.  Of no fault on Air Lift or ViAir’s part, I found out it was the 1/4″ thick MDF and no ventilation in the spare tire well so we decided to add a temporary fan fix; one intake and one exhaust with no baffling, ha.  Wired into the compressor relay, the fans only kick on when the compressor is running.  It works- pic below.

That’s all for this post… So far, I’m happy with the handling and versatility of the air suspension. :)  Thanks again Air Lift!

Clears pesky bumps at driving height...

Pesky driveways...

At the same height as the above pic, it clears driveways straight on with about .25" to spare; it could go higher!

Temporary fan fix to get some airflow...
